What inspired you to teach: I always knew that I wanted to teach. At first I wanted to teach children, but I saw so many of them came from homes that didn’t provide what they needed to be successful in school and it was frustrating. When I found the opportunity to teach adults I jumped on it. I love knowledge, but even more I love sharing it with others and learning from them. I wanted to make a positive difference in the world. Education makes a lasting difference on not only the students’ lives, but their families, children, and grandchildren. The gift of education lasts for generations and I get to be a part of it!
What is the favorite part of your job: I love seeing people grow. By the end of a program, nervous first term students have turned into confident professionals. The transformation is stunning and I love being a part of that process; helping them along the way.
Something most people don’t know about you: I am a born performer. I have always thrived in front of a crowd. When I was young I did a lot of theater and I was the one on stage looking to get the laugh and striving for the applause. In the classroom I use this experience to try to keep things light and ease stressful situations.
