Welcome students& potential students. My name is Traci L. (Slye) Blan. I am a previous graduate of the Pioneer Pacific College Practical Nursing Program. I also have an AAS in Equine Science. My grandmother was an LPN and she always wanted one of her grandchildren to follow in her footsteps. It wasn’t going to be me!! But, when I turned forty I decided it was time for a career change and decided to try nursing after all, it would make grandma happy. Through my year at PPC, I watched my instructors carefully and decided that I would make a greater contribution to the field of nursing by teaching. I worked in a nursing home for three years and then received a call from PPC that they had a position available as a teacher’s assistant in Open Lab. I jumped at the opportunity, and the rest is history. I currently am also working on my BSN, and would be happy to discuss that with you any time. The one thing I wish I could have that would make nursing easier would be x-ray vision, then I could see into people’s bodies and fix their health problems, and it would make me a better teacher’s assistant too. Hope to see you in my Open Lab soon.
