Management – Bachelor of Science Degree

This program prepares students to be ethical, self-confident, knowledgeable, flexible, and technologically prepared business professionals that are able to perform effectively and efficiently in a diverse environment that is constantly changing.

By helping students develop their personal and professional skills, they will be able to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate complex business situations. Students work in team-orientated environments and professionally research, analyze, present and communicate their work in oral and written format. Upon completion of their program, they will be able to apply the core management functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling to achieve an organization’s desired goals.

Students choose between a major in Administration or Human Resources.

Administration Major

The student who graduates with a major in Administration will be expected to demonstrate the following outcomes:

  • Apply basic managerial principles and practices to the staffing,evaluation, and supervision functions.
  • Apply the principles of accounting and finance to evaluate fiscal decision making.
  • Use computer software programs to develop documents, analyze and present data, and retrieve information from the Internet.
  • Evaluate and apply ethical values to general business principles and practices.
  • Employ effective office administration procedures for efficient business practices.
  • Assist with basic functions of entry level bookkeeping/accounting positions.
  • Use intermediate management methods to identify organizational functions and demonstrate the skills to maximize those functions for efficient and effective operations.
  • Apply broad based analytical skills in finance, marketing, human resources, business strategy and planning, and information technology systems.
  • Recognize the importance of international business, globalization, and how technology is shaping the business world.
  • Evaluate and establish social responsibility policies and organizational codes of ethics arising from conflicting values within the organizational and the external environments.
  • Develop strong communication skills and demonstrate confidence in using presentation skills.

Human Resources Major

The student who graduates with a major in Human Resources will be expected to demonstrate the following outcomes:

  • Apply basic managerial principles and practices to the staffing,evaluation, and supervision functions.
  • Apply the principles of accounting and finance to evaluate fiscal decision making.
  • Use computer software programs to develop documents, analyze and present data, and retrieve information from the Internet.
  • Evaluate and apply ethical values to general business principles and practices.
  • Employ effective office administration procedures for efficient business practices.
  • Demonstrate practical skills, knowledge, and understanding of human resource functions necessary to assist with the administration of institutional policies in private and public sector organizational settings.
  • Upon completion, students will be able to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate complex business situations affecting both management and personnel.
  • Be able to apply the core management functions of human resource planning; recruitment, selection, placement, and orientation of employees; training and career development; labor relations; management of performance appraisal, compensation, and benefit programs.
  • Develop personnel policies and implement procedures to effectively realize intended objectives.
  • Develop strong communication skills and demonstrate confidence in using presentation skills.
