Massage is a hands-on career, and our curriculum reflects this. Our Massage Therapy Program is predominantly competency based with a significant amount of lab time and actual practice of the modalities learned. Our program also emphasizes a strong knowledge of the anatomy, physiology and functions of the human body.
Massage therapy covers a wide range of massage techniques. Our program is designed to provide students with a highly comprehensive understanding of these techniques including:

- Trigger Point Therapy

Courses are designed to provide students with the skills and experience necessary to succeed in this field. In addition to performing the massage techniques listed above, successful graduates of this program will be able to:
- Effectively plan, organize and implement therapeutic massage sessions
- Develop professional relationships with clients and other healthcare providers
- Maintain efficient body mechanics and sound self-care practices
- Manage the business aspects of the profession
Massage therapy students can also earn a Chiropractic Assistant certification during the completion of this program.
Hands-On Training
In addition to classroom and lab instruction, students also practice skills in a supervised clinic by providing relaxation massage to the general public. Students are also required to complete a supervised fieldwork assignment. Fieldwork opportunities include corporate locations or healthcare facilities where students may present wellness programs and on-site massage. By working in a real-world setting, students feel confident in transitioning from school to their new and rewarding career.
National Certification
The Massage Therapy Program at Pioneer Pacific College is designed to prepare graduates for employment as a licensed massage therapist (practitioner) in the states of Oregon and Washington. The State of Oregon utilizes the National Certification Exam, given by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB). Eligibility to sit for this exam is granted upon completion of this program.
