3 Tips for Students to Thrive over the Winter Break

20 December 2017 By Lucas

Students enjoy freedom and growth during college, but how can they maintain their momentum during winter break when they head back home to family and friends? There is always a great dealof excitement around the holiday season, especially from the student body at Pioneer Pacific College. Nothing beats a slight break from studies to build a snowman with friends, or go shopping with family, but should you forget about all the study habits and push to the finish line that has been building all semester long?  We have the tips you need to stay focused on your school work over the holidays, while still being able to enjoy time with family and friends.

1. Regroup, Recoup, & Relax!

It’s your winter break! Enjoy yourself. Allowing yourself the time to de-stress will contribute to your overall success at Pioneer Pacific. Relax and take your mind off classes when you are spending time with your loved ones. Enjoy cooking dinner and decorating your house for the holidays with family, or catch up with old friends and distant relatives. Read a book, go to the movies, it’s your break!

2. Get a part-time job.

One great way to get your mind off of school and make some extra cash for both the holidays and the upcoming semester is getting a part-time job. Free time can be hard to come by during the school year, so it’s a perfect opportunity. A part-time job can also show future employers you are willing and able to be engaged! If you can find an internship or job that pertains to your future career, even better. Being able to juggle different duties and roles is an excellent way to stay proactive during the brief break, and a way to keep the momentum going for Spring term.

3. Examine your studying habits.

Prioritize and organize! If you are doing a lot of traveling over the holidays, remember to stay organized. Make sure you are bringing all of the materials and textbooks you need when traveling. Are your current study habits getting you the results you want, or could your process be improved with new tips or tricks? Think about assignments that will be due during or after the holidays. How can you manage your time properly over the break to ensure your momentum built up from the semester will be continued? The winter break is the perfect opportunity to examine your current study habits.

Pioneer Pacific College wants you to enjoy your holiday season! We hope you can implement some of these tips to have a good winter break with family and friends.
