15 March 2018 By Lucas

Are you interested in learning about how to become a paralegal? As a career choice that has grown in popularity, paralegals are an essential component of any law firm or attorney’s office. Here, we lay out some of the basics to consider if becoming a paralegal is something you are interested in.

How to Become a Paralegal Education and Training

There are some opportunities to become a paralegal through many years of entry-level work in a law practice, working with attorneys and their teams to learn and advance. However, it does not allow for much flexibility and requires substantial time investment over many years without much guarantee of success. Pioneer Pacific College offers a unique and effective Paralegal Studies program that is streamlined to empower and educate students quickly and efficiently.

Approved by the ABA

If you’re interested in becoming a paralegal here in Oregon, it’s important to know your educational options. Pioneer Pacific College is one of only two schools in Oregon that offers a paralegal program that’s approved by the American Bar Association (ABA). Although, taking an ABA approved program isn’t required to become a paralegal, this is an important distinction when it comes time for employers to review resumes for potential employment. We are committed to providing our students with the best education and career training available so they can go out into the world and make a difference for themselves and their community.

Certified

Certification as a paralegal is not required in Oregon, but we highly recommend it. Throughout the Paralegal Studies program at Pioneer Pacific, you will be trained and taught by experienced legal professionals, giving you valuable experience and insight that is not available everywhere. The National Federation of Paralegal Associations offers two certification options, with each offering benefits for beginning and continuing a paralegal career.
